A Great Weekend To Ride!

While those here in the Red River Valley enjoyed temperatures in the mid 70's today, it stayed cloudy all day with NO sun. It was extremely windy today as well. While we did not receive any rain yesterday, overnight, or thus far today, the forecast is calling for rain showers overnight & tomorrow a.m. We will keep you posted if we indeed receive any moisture. Some moisture would sure help settle the dust & make trail conditions perfect. Other than the anticipated rain shower (overnight & in the morning), we are expecting sunshine this weekend with somewhat "cooler" temperatures...mid to upper 50's/low 60's anticipated. Next weekend, spring break week, & the weekend after spring break will be busy...so beat the rush & come ride this weekend! It's time to start the weekend!  Here's what you can expect for conditions in Bulcher...

Since daylight savings time begins before spring break this year, RRMT, Inc. Staff have decided to begin spring/summer park hours earlier than usual (April 1). Thus, beginning Sunday, March 13, we will have park hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. & these new hours will continue throughout spring break week & onward until we go back to fall/winter hours in October. ENJOY!

* Notice - As of Thursday, March 3, 2011
There is currently NO BURN BAN in effect in Cooke County & thus at RRMT, Inc. However, due to extremely WINDY conditions & high FIRE danger, we emphasize EXTREME CAUTION with campfires & outdoor grilling. If these conditions continue (coupled with NO moisture), it is likely the burn ban will be enacted on Monday (3/7) when Cooke County officials meet.

With a potential burn ban on the horizon, all individuals planning to spend spring break at our park need to plan accordingly. You will want to bring a grill with a lid and if you want to have a campfire, visit your local Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. and get you one of those fire pits that have a mesh screen over it. Because if a burn ban goes into effect, there cannot be any open flames…everything must have a lid. NO EXCEPTIONS!

One question that might be asked...Can you have a fire (campfire or grill) in our fire rings (that are at the park) during a burn ban? The answer is "NO" because there are no lids on those fire rings, thus those fire rings are not to be used during a burn ban. Hence the reason we advise you to think ahead & encourage you to purchase something with a lid/cover to use during times when a burn ban is in effect at our park.

We will keep you posted on any new developments concerning the burn ban becoming reinstated as we know more.

Due to wintry weather, RRMT, Inc. Will Be CLOSED This Weekend...Saturday, February 5 & Sunday, February 6.

As of February 4th (9 a.m.) - We have received 5+ inches of snow (& it's still snowing) with snow drifts even deeper. But more importantly, under this snow...is a layer of ice that makes outdoor conditions even more dangerous. At the park currently, we have so much snow that you can't even determine where trails are. Thus, riding around is problematic because you can't tell where you should be going, plus every so often, you will be riding & hit a snow drift. (Our fourwheeler & even Kubota high centered & got stuck. This is perfect snowmobile weather!) At the park at this time, we also have gates that are frozen shut....making getting in and out of our facility tough. If we only had snow...it would be a very different story, but because we are still dealing with icy conditions up here (as well as snow), a concern for riders to our park this weekend is a big concern.

This weather, coupled with the fact that it is Super Bowl Weekend here in North Texas, the crowds to the park would likely be extremely small this weekend. For the safety of all you plus the fact that we can't validate being open all weekend when it is such bad weather...not only bad here but bad everywhere else, including the DFW metroplex. (It is highly unlikely that many of you would venture that far from home this weekend since road conditions are so uncertain due to this winter weather.) While the highs for the weekend are predicted to be right at 40 degrees both Saturday & Sunday, due to the fact that we will be below freezing during the nights, all of this precipation that we have on the ground (with the layer of ice under it) will continue to re-freeze until we get some significantly warmer weather. So needless to say, this stuff will not be melting anytime soon.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Stay home (where you are warm & safe) & enjoy some family time!
We'll look forward to being back open & seeing you once the weather gets better.
